Where do I even begin to chronicle all of the amazing places we saw on our road trip through the Pacific Northwest?! What an incredible trip. “Every good and perfect gift is from above” (James 1:17), and I am so thankful to God for this sweet gift, this opportunity to explore nature with my husband and our little boy. We visited five national parks on the trip – Olympic, North Cascades, Mt Rainier, Crater Lake and Lassen – along with stops in Whistler, B.C., Bend, Or, Reno, NV, Sacramento, San Jose and finally, Big Sur. We stayed almost every single night in a new place and put over 4000 miles on the truck from start to finish. We took four weeks off of work, which we were simultaneously overjoyed and guilty about. Society has a tendency to make us think our worth and our success is in the hours we spend at our jobs, when the real reward is making memories like these.
We had so much fun touring the Pacific Northwest as a little threesome (with Denali in the back seat too). Colt did so great on the road despite being out of his normal routine. With each new place we arrived at, our jaws dropped even further towards the floor. God’s creation is so beautiful and magnificent, and this earth is so big, and we are so small and our lives so brief in the grand scheme of things.
