It has been a dream of mine for a very long time to do a shoot in Yosemite and my dream finally came true a few weeks ago! Yosemite is where I first fell in love with photography… strolling through the Ansel Adams gallery in the village at around age 12 or 13, I then returned to Yosemite every spring with my family and shot roll after roll of 35mm black and white film, trying to recreate what Ansel Adams captured decades ago. I was so excited when Meghan and Andrew said they were up for traveling to Yosemite with us to do a family session in time for Ranger’s 1st birthday! All of the falls are dry this time of year, but the meadows were still a vibrant yellow-green and the blue granite mountains never cease to disappoint. We did their shoot just  before sunset and wrapped up with a little mini-shoot of just Meghan and Andrew to celebrate their 3rd wedding anniversary. These are some of my favorite family photos in my favorite location of all time! Enjoy. :)

Our darling boy Colt turned ten months old last week. It seems like I just wrote the last post when he turned nine months! He is such a joy. We are currently in the middle of our 4-week road trip through the Pacific Northwest and Whistler – so far we are having a great time! We’ve visited Portland and Olympic National Park and we are now in Whistler for a few days. Colt has been such a champ with all of the driving and with not having his regular routine – naps in his crib, a big space to crawl around, bath time, etc. The three of us and Denali are living out of about 64 square feet – it’s been a little tight but it’s not too bad; I’m sure we’ll have a different perspective on space and “stuff” by the time this month is over. I’m realizing that we really don’t need as many conveniences or as much room as we think we do. And it’s kinda fun this way! (ask me in a few more weeks if I’m still having fun) ;)

I haven’t weighed Colt recently but I think he is approaching 25 lbs and wears mostly 12-18mo clothes. He is looking so much thinner though because he is really gaining some length! And his feet just got huge! All of a sudden he outgrew all of his shoes (we only had a few to begin with) – and I had to stop at a Kohl’s on day 2 of the trip and buy him a pair. He has learned to wave goodbye and he gives the sweetest arms-tight-around-your-neck hugs. He says momma and dadda but I’m not positive he is doing it on purpose yet. ;) We have been so impressed that he actually listens and responds when we need to say “no” or “sit down.” He has four teeth now, two on top and two on bottom!

I used to be puzzled at parents that would say things like, “what was our life like before him/her?” Our life was fun and it was awesome and we did so many things in the five years that it was just the two of us – but now it’s even better! Our new life as a family of three is the perfect combination of everything we love – each other, our baby boy, exploration and just being together. It’s the best.

I had the great privilege of photographing baby boy Hudson a few weeks ago. I feel so lucky when clients hire me again and again to document the biggest moments in their lives. Hannah and Mike – big congratulations on your recent life-changing addition. He is such a handsome little guy!

Introducing little Troy… he was such an angel for our shoot together a few weeks ago! He’s got handfuls of hair, the most intriguing blue eyes and two parents that love him very much. Congratulations Taylor and Ryan!

Where do I begin with this wonderful wedding of two of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet?! Lindsay and Todd were married at Bates Nut Farm several weekends ago on a gorgeous summer day! Lindsay was bursting at the seams with joy and excitement to marry her sweetheart, and Todd was so giddy himself. Not only was their wedding celebration full of beautiful details like the prettiest blooms and lovely signage that Lindsay designed and created herself, but their day was also centered around God who brought these two together. Congratulations, Lindsay and Todd! We are so excited for you and the adventure that God has in store for you as a husband-and-wife team!
