Colt’s First Camping Trip

We took Colt on his first camping trip a couple weeks ago! It was so fun and I cannot wait until he’s able to actually enjoy it! As a trial run, we rented a little one-room cabin (it’s more like a shed – plywood bunk beds and a wood burning stove and that’s it) up at Paso Picacho campground in the Cuyamacas. My only concern about taking him at 7 weeks was being able to keep him warm – that stove kept us toasty all night long! It really wasn’t that much work taking a newborn camping. When you forget about all the chores and work you have to do at home, you realize you actually have a lot of time on your hands! I love being out of the house and hanging out with him because I’m able to put all my attention on him and stop being a busy-body that’s always trying to accomplish more.

We love taking him hiking in the Ergo carrier – it’s got great back support and is really comfortable. I love that it’s one-size so Deven and I can both wear him. Colt loves it too!

How cute is this little baby Patagonia?! He’s already outgrown this one so I need to find a larger one. We would keep him in this (with some cotton pjs underneath) around the campfire at night and in the brisk mornings – he was snug as a bug!

Colter’s first camping experience and we got to stay in the “Coulter” cabin! How perfect. :)

This past weekend we tent camped at the desert with him for the first time. He snuggled up right in between us in our REI double sleeping bag! He woke up a few times in the night, which he usually doesn’t do at home – but overall it went well! Gotta get him used to it early! This boy has a lot of camping in his future. :)
