Colt turned four months old this past Sunday! He is weighing in at 17.5 lbs, wearing mostly 6-9 and 6-12 month clothes, still in size 3 diapers. Thank goodness – two whole months in the same diaper size. Phew!
The little dude is starting to “talk” – making oohs and aahs and all sorts of expressions that go along with them. He also laughed out loud for the first time! I was tickling him while grandma was making silly noises and he laughed long enough for daddy to get it all on video – seriously the cutest thing ever! I still giggle every time I watch it.
Colt still loves bath time but some of his new favorite things are bedtime stories, reaching for and touching new (shiny) things, and also sitting in the Bumbo next to Denali and either watching the world outside the screen door or yanking on the poor dog’s fur and ears. Who am I kidding… she loves the attention.
Mom is currently reading Super Nutrition for Babies in preparation for Colt’s first foods! We plan to start experimenting with solids at six months old. I cannot recommend that book enough! It’s changing my life! Next up on the list is The Nourishing Traditions Book of Baby & Child Care and Real Food for Mother and Baby (thanks to our dear friend Brittany for recommending all three).
It really is an amazing thing to watch our little boy grow and learn. The moments when Deven and I exchange a look that says, “he’s never done that before!” are some of my favorite. Nothing beats being a parent alongside your best friend. Speaking of, Deven flew out to Georgia yesterday to build the Macon Mud Run (which operates solely as a fundraiser to benefit the children living at Hephzibah Children’s Home), and Colt and I get to join him next week to take photos of the construction of the course and the race itself! Thanks to all my mommies on Facebook, I feel pretty prepared for our first cross-country flight. :)
What a joy to be this young man’s momma…
